We are custom Pergola builders.  What's a Pergola?  Don't feel bad, we get that question a lot. Most people have seen one without knowing what it is called. A pergola is a garden structure forming a shaded walk or passageway of pillars that support cross beams and a sturdy open lattice
   We construct them of hand selected premium Southern yellow pine (pressure-treated) and Florida grown Cypress.  Because we take so much time to select wood from our vendors, we can't bear to see any of our leftovers go to waste.  We're not kidding.  We use everything because it takes a long time for the planet to produce the stuff. We find it disrespectful to throw away any useful medium that we can craft into things that can be  given a second chance to be used  somewhere else. If a tree is cut down, the least we can do is not needlessly waste a single sliver.

  As a result we've got piles of gorgeous wood that we fashion into whatever garden accessories we can.  That's right, we save everything we can so as not to cut more timber from our depleted forests or fill our overburdened landfills.  Because our craft frequently requires detailed cuts from large pieces of cypress or pine, we often have unique shapes cut as by-products. 
  Inevitably, this wood becomes a table or a candleholder, or some other useful piece that you or your family and friends can put to good use and keep out of the ever growing mounds of garbage in our dumps.

Our Business

  We began as an interior detail carpentry business in Tampa, Florida, and soon realized that, unlike northern states,  our climate would allow us to work outside all year.  To take advantage of this we moved outdoors and built our first Pergola in 2005. Eventually, we put our skills together to become the premier Pergola builders in Florida.  We don't have competition. No one else is willing to make the painstaking efforts we do to craft  outdooor structures and accessories the right way. If you'd like to see more of our Pergolas, arbors, trellises, and custom fences, please visit us at www.gardenstructure.com .

Who We Are

  We are professionals teamed up with woodworkers from around North America to form Gardenstructure.com.,  a network headed by master woodworker Lawrence Winterburn of Ontario, Canada. Gardenstucture.com is our pergola building site. If you are interested in larger scale outdoor projects such as pergolas, you should take a look this site as well.  As a result of building these majestic structures, we had a lot of good quality wood left over.  As a form of advertising for our pergolas we took the left-over wood from bigger projects and made simple, useful outdoor accents.  We hand delivered these little tokens of appreciation, with our business cards stapled on the back to the neighbors in the areas we were working.  They loved it, and wanted more!!  So we decided to create this sister website gardencarpentry.com
